Savory Beef Sandwiches
Spicy horseradish mayonnaise is the great-tasting secret ingredient in these delicious sandwiches.

Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread
- 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
- 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 8 slices deli roast beef
Directions
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Cut French bread into 4 pieces. Cut each piece of bread in half lengthwise. Arrange on a baking sheet cut sides up. Bake until the bread is toasted, about 4 minutes.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion in hot oil, stirring continually, just until lightly browned.
Meanwhile, combine the mayonnaise, horseradish and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl and mix well.
Place 2 slices of roast beef on the bottom half of each piece of bread. Spread with mayonnaise mixture. Spoon equal portions of the onion on top of the mayonnaise mixture. Replace top half of each piece of bread and serve.
Secret Tip
Salting the onion lightly while it is in the skillet helps it cook in just a spoonful of oil without sticking, since the salt releases some of the onion's juice. The onion will soften more quickly, too.
