Chocolate Waffles

When someone needs a little bit of extra tender ?loving care, Chocolate Waffles are just the right thing.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • Strawberries, optional
  • Whipped cream, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat waffle iron.

  2. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl and mix well.

  3. Combine milk, butter and eggs in a blender. Process until blended. Add flour mixture gradually, processing continually.

  4. Bake waffles using the waffle iron manufacturer's directions.

  5. Top servings with strawberries and whipped cream.

Secret Tip

Waffles will have the softest texture if you keep the mixing to a minimum. Mixing the ingredients by hand is one way to do this. Another way is to pulse the blender just until no streaks of flour remain. Don't worry about lumps-they will disappear in cooking.
