Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 500°F. Grease an 11- x 7-inch baking dish.

  2. Arrange asparagus in prepared dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and sesame oil. Bake asparagus for 10 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, place sesame seeds in a baking pan. Bake, stirring once, for 3 minutes.

  4. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over asparagus. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Secret Tip

Drizzling olive oil on the asparagus helps keep the exterior tender. For a quick and thorough way to coat asparagus with oil, place the spears in a clean plastic bag, then pour in the oil. Close the top and shake. Just pour the asparagus directly into the baking dish.
