Ingredients

  • 10 cups peeled, sliced Granny Smith apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

  1. Place apples in a large bowl.

  2. Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl and mix well.

  3. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples and mix well. Spoon into a microwave-safe dish. Dot with butter. Cover with plastic wrap.

  4. Microwave apple mixture on HIGH (100% power), stirring every 5 minutes, until apples are tender, about 15 minutes. Serve immediately.

Secret Tip

An apple corer/slicer makes short work of slicing apples. You'll still have to peel the apples, but the corer does its job in just seconds, shaving several minutes off your preparation time.
